Al Birtch
A lifetime inside power.
A different kind of thriller.
Al Birtch is a Canadian author of intelligent contemporary thrillers that examine the real-world consequences of power, ambition, institutional failure, and the moral choices people face when justice proves elusive.
Before turning his full attention to fiction, Al spent his entire professional career in the Canadian banking industry. Living and working throughout North America, he led strategic initiatives involving mergers and acquisitions, major organizational restructuring, and the design and launch of new business divisions. His career culminated in leadership at the Chief Executive Officer level.
Those responsibilities provided rare access to boardrooms and executive leadership teams at some of North America’s largest corporations. He observed how decisions affecting employees, customers, shareholders, and communities were shaped by personal ambition, financial reward, and the pursuit of power.
Those experiences became the foundation of his fiction: believable characters, recognizable institutions, cinematic pacing, and the resilience of ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances.
